Marty Tirrell is a name that resonates with sports fans across America, especially those who’ve tuned in late at night to catch his fiery takes on “Sports Overnight America.” Born and raised on the East Coast, Marty brought his big personality and deep passion for sports to the airwaves, quickly becoming known for his no-holds-barred style and sharp wit.
Marty’s journey in sports broadcasting kicked off in the ’90s, and he has since covered everything from local high school games to the biggest events in college sports. This has led him to making some great connections all over, from celebrities to players, and other sports broadcasters. His career took him to Iowa, where his bold opinions and lively debates made him a local radio legend. Whether he was stirring the pot or just telling it like it is, listeners couldn’t get enough of his unique blend of knowledge and entertainment.
Off the air, Marty’s life has been as colorful as his broadcasts. From play-by-play in Massachusetts to pregame shows for UMass basketball and the Boston Celtics, Marty’s voice has been a staple in sports for decades. Despite the ups and downs of his career, including some well-publicized controversies, Marty’s love for sports and broadcasting remains as strong as ever.
Today, he continues to share his passion on “Sports Overnight America,” where fans can count on him to bring his trademark energy and insight to every show.
Hines is a seasoned voice in NCAA hockey, now entering his 32nd season as a color commentator. He’s in his third year covering Merrimack College Women’s hockey on ESPN+, but his experience spans decades, including 29 years with the University of Massachusetts. There, he became a familiar voice, providing analysis and play-by-play for UMassSports Radio Network, and color commentary on New England Sports Network.
Hines has worn many hats over the years—hosting pregame shows, interviewing coaches, and even winning prestigious awards like the Joe Concannon Media Award for his outstanding coverage of Hockey East. Beyond hockey, he lent his talents to UMass Minutewomen basketball broadcasts and spent 26 years hosting a beloved weekly music and sports show at Deerfield Academy’s WGAJ-FM.
With a deep love for the game and a career that’s as impressive as it is varied, Hines continues to share his expertise and passion for sports, all while serving as the Senior Vice President of Wheeler And Taylor Insurance Agency in Greenfield, MA.
Annie has been working with Marty Tirrell to take Sports Overnight America to the next level. Annie graduated as valedictorian of her class. Maintained a 4.0 gpa, keeping her on the Dean’s List majority of her high school/college years, while also running and owning multiple businesses.
Although not the biggest sports enthusiast, Annie continues to enjoy assisting running companies, and continuing entrepreneurial work in her life.
Annie currently resides in West Des Moines, Iowa with her husband and two young boys keeping her days full of crazy, chaos and fun.
Meet D.J. “Winnin” Shields. D.J. was born in Mesa, AZ but spent most of his life in Texas. DJ started playing football, baseball, and basketball at the age of 5. He completed a perfect 10-0 record his senior year pitching, leading the Pottsboro Cardinals to the playoffs. He then went on to play college baseball at Brookhaven Juco in Dallas, TX. His non-traditional road here has been a journey!
D.J. was one of the lead singers of a boy band in the 2,000’s, opening for artist like Chingy, Mario, B2K, Jessica Simpson and more.
Following his music days, D.J. pursued his path in Sports Management. D.J. would then meet his partner Adrian Bradley and they formed A&D Sports Management. He would go on to work with athletes such as Felix Jones, Raymond Radway, Marion Barber, Dwayne Harris, Tyson Thompson of the Dallas Cowboys and expand into New York with Josh Baker, Marcus Dixon from the NY Jets, Andy Tanner of the New Orleans Saints and many more. Sports have always been where his heart is and he cannot wait to bring you his energy and enthusiasm to a city near you!
Tucker Bern, 28, is a master networker and connector who has successfully raised over $10,000,000 across various ventures he’s been involved in. As a partner in Sports Overnight America, a popular sports radio show attracting over 400,000 live listeners monthly, and a partner in the major network, Sports Byline USA through which the show streams, reaching over six million live listeners worldwide, Tucker’s influence in the sports media landscape is undeniable. He is also a partner in one of the fastest-growing vodka brands in America, American Premium Vodka and runs a thriving online sports handicapping business, Limitless Sports Picks.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Tucker is passionate about health and fitness, cherishing time spent with his brother Blake and his lovely girlfriend, Paula. In his free time, he enjoys dominating online FIFA matches, proving his competitive spirit both on and off the field.
Zayd is an exceptional Broadcast Journalist whose passion for sports and journalism has driven him to excel in his field. Graduating with a degree in Journalism from the esteemed Columbia College Chicago, Zayd honed his skills and knowledge, setting the stage for a remarkable career ahead.
One of his shining achievements was hosting the acclaimed sports radio show “Sports Talk with Vegas Z” on WCRX 88.1 in Chicago. His captivating storytelling and insightful analysis captured the hearts of listeners, establishing him as a trusted voice in the sports industry.
Beyond his captivating radio show, Zayd’s expertise lies in seizing opportunities in early betting markets, achieving remarkable CLV (Closing Line Value) on nearly every wager he releases. His ability to uncover true edges in the sports betting world sets him apart as a force to be reckoned with.
For over five years, Zayd has dedicated himself to covering the exhilarating world of
MMA, traveling extensively across the United States to provide in-depth coverage of
events. With more than a decade of experience in wrestling, he possesses a profound understanding of all combat sports, which adds depth and richness to his reporting. Giovanna Scroggins is a versatile media professional, who graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU). She graduated with dual degrees, one of which is in Sports Journalism. Since graduating, she has built a dynamic career in the broadcasting industry, working as a reporter and producer for KRLD News Radio in Dallas, TX.
In addition to her work in news radio, Giovanna also produces shows for the Alumni Media Network, focusing on content for retired professional athletes.
Her passion for sports and storytelling is evident in her ability to engage audiences across multiple platforms.
Born and raised in New York before moving to Miami, former collegiate soccer player Tyler Lavigne is the host of First Touch, a soccer talk show focused on the world of European Soccer.
Tyler fell in love with European soccer, specifically the English Premier League and Champions League, when he was a kid in the early 2000s. He shares his passion with the world alongside his co-host, Niko Bifsas, every Friday night at 5 p.m. EST.

Niko, is a Greek sports enthusiast who loves soccer and is a lifelong Olympiakos supporter. He played amateur soccer from age 5 to 20 before moving to the U.S.
In New England, he earned a black belt in Krav Maga after six years of training. With a lifelong career in hospitality, Niko enjoys meeting new people and discussing sports and good food, making him a vibrant presence in social settings.
